Justice Westmin James

The Eugene Dupuch Law School welcomes Justice Westmin James as Course Director for Constitutional Law and Legal Drafting & Interpretation and the Associate Tutor for Law & Legal Systems of The Caribbean.

Justice James obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree (1st Class Hons) from The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus (2003), a Master of Laws degree (Hons) from the University of Cambridge, England (2005) and the Legal Education Certificate (Principals Roll of Honour) (2006) from the Hugh Wooding Law School, Trinidad & Tobago. Justice James also holds a Certificate in University Teaching and Learning from The University of the West Indies (2013).

Justice James presides over the Caribbean Community Administrative Tribunal, the IDB Administrative Tribunal, and was appointed Judge of the High Court of Barbados (Acting) in April 2022. He is also a former Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of Belize.

He is a Lecturer & Course Director in Law at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados where he lectures Constitutional Law, Commonwealth Caribbean Human Rights, Employment Law, Discrimination in Employment and International Mooting.
