Community Spirit

Our community outreach activities are intentionally designed to provide a learning environment that is supportive and responsive to the needs and aspirations of our students and community. We provide many enriching hands-on experiences for students to network and engage with thought leaders and contribute to nation building.

Each year we look forward to the Student Association’s awareness activities, donation drives, community and fun days. Supported by students, staff and alumni they recognize that we are all interconnected and that our actions can, and do, make a difference. Lawyers have fun too! Proceeds from fun events like ‘Dis-we-Bar’ the Law School’s annual concert, showcasing the talents of students, faculty, staff and the wider Bar, are donated to charity.

A strong community relies on the strength of its people. Our Legal Aid Clinic opens Monday through Friday and offers free legal advice and support to disenfranchised individuals unable to access legal services. This coupled with the Legal Aid Fair held within local communities helps us to broaden our impact, as we go out to seek those in need.

We support the growth of our students in mind, body, and spirit. EDLS collaborates with other institutions and individuals to provide rewarding networking opportunities for students to engage with and learn from legal and other professionals in our community. The Eugene Dupuch Distinguished Lecture Series provides a forum for scholarly discussion of topical issues of interest to the legal profession and civil society. Community Law Clinics, Brown Bag sessions, seminars and the Imoja Lecture increase awareness of legal issues affecting our community.

At the Eugene Dupuch Law School, we invest in the growth of those around us. We explore and value diverse perspectives and develop the skills needed to create a bright future. We encourage our students to be life-long learners who are knowledgeable in the law, skilled practitioners, imbued with integrity, high ethical standards and a sense of social responsibility and service to the community.
