Justice Rhonda Bain (Ret.)
Course Director – Legal Drafting & Interpretation
Justice Rhonda Bain (Ret.) was called to The Bahamas Bar in 1976 after completing studies at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados and the Noman Manley Law School, Mona, Jamaica. She commenced her legal career in the public sector where she was assigned to the legal drafting section in the Office of the Attorney General, thus sparking her interest in legislative drafting. In 1984 Justice Bain obtained a LL.M., in Legislative Drafting from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill.
Justice Bain worked in the private sector at Christie Ingraham & Co., Baha Mar, Ingraham Law Chambers and in her own practice. In the public sector Justice Bain culminated her public sector practice by serving as Director of Legal Affairs in the Office of the Attorney General. In 2009 she was appointed as a Justice of the Supreme Court. She retired as a Justice of the Supreme Court in 2018. Justice Bain is a former Chairman of the Disciplinary Tribunal established under the Legal Professions Act. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Ethics Committee of The Bahamas Bar Association. Since 2006, Justice Bain has served as an Associate Tutor at the Eugene Dupuch Law School where she teaches Legal Drafting and Interpretation.
