Eugene Dupuch Distinguished Lecture 2023 Recap
The Council of Legal Education Eugene Dupuch Law School hosted the 2023 Eugene Dupuch Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, March 23, 2023. This year’s address was delivered by Sir Ian Winder, Kt., Chief Justice of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on the topic “Status rights and obligations: Legal issues in citizenship, immigration and asylum laws in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.” Chief Justice Winder outlined the historical background of immigration in The Bahamas, routes to citizenship and challenges relative to its attainment. Certain immigration matters brought before the courts were also surveyed. The lecture was well received by the attendees which included members of the Bench, Bar and law students.
