EDLS STUDENTS MOOT

EDLS competed in the Price Media Human Rights Moot in New York (Regional Rounds), with the team comprising Raven Rolle, Fania Joseph and Latia Williams coached by Senior Tutor, Patrick Wells. Speaking of the Lex Caribbean Client Interviewing Competition and the Price Media Human Rights Moot, Senior Tutor Patrick Wells said, “Both teams worked tirelessly and invested themselves completely. We thank them for their remarkable dedication and commitment to both events. They all made us proud at both competitions.”

The Price Media team advanced to the quarter-finals in New York, and have been invited to the International Rounds of the competition in Oxford, England, as one of the best teams from the Americas.

In the coming weeks EDLS teams will participate in the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) Moot, Frankfurt International Commercial Arbitration Moot, and the Caribbean Law Clinic of the American Caribbean Law Initiative.

We congratulate all of our teams and thank them for being great ambassadors for our School. “EDLS is grateful for the support and dedication of our students and faculty who go beyond the call of duty,” said Principal, Tonya Bastian Galanis.  “Coaches Patrick Wells, Clive Guy, Raquel Williams, and Dwana Davis-Imhoff are to be commended for their dedication and support as we work toward providing enriching learning experiences for our students.”

EDLS also competed against its sister law school, the Hugh Wooding Law School, in the preliminary round of the Margaret Forte criminal law moot. The competition was held at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. Although Shakira Dean, Lashanda Bain and Candice Maycock gave strong performances, they did not advance to the final round. That round will be hosted by the EDLS. The Hugh Wooding Law School will battle it out with the Norman Manley Law School for the coveted shield.
