2-Year Programme
The 2-Year Programme is a full-time course designed for persons who hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI) or other equivalent degree from a university approved by the Council of Legal Education.
Persons holding a degree other than a University of the West Indies LL.B. degree are required to sit an entrance examination.
Law Schools are zoned for the admission of students from participating territories of the West Indies. The Eugene Dupuch Law School is zoned for nationals of The Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos. We welcome and encourage applicants from all territories, who meet eligibility requirements however such applicants are subject to a separate fee structure.
Upon successful completion of the 2-year programme candidates are awarded a Legal Education Certificate (L.E.C.) which is recognised throughout the Caribbean region as the professional qualification for admission to practice.
How To Apply
To be eligible for direct admission, applicants must be in possession of an approved qualification, namely an LL.B. degree from the University of the West Indies or a degree of a University or Institution which is recognised by the Council as being equivalent to the University of the West Indies LL.B. degree.
Persons not qualified as described above must sit the annual entrance examination conducted by the Council of Legal Education, providing that they are in possession of the following qualification:
- A first degree in law awarded by a university in a common law jurisdiction or;
- The Common Professional Examination Certificate (UK) together with vocational training.
Applicants must submit the following with their applications
- A copy of the Bachelor of Laws certificate awarded to the applicant.
- An official and complete transcript for the Bachelor of Laws programme sent directly from the institution to the Registrar of the Eugene Dupuch Law School.
- Certified Copy of Birth Certificate.
- Certified Copy of Passport.
- Deed Poll and/or Marriage Certificate, if there have been name changes.
- 3 passport-sized colour photographs taken within the last six months.
- Non-refundable, non-transferable application fee of US $50 paid via Bank Draft/Manager’s Cheque made payable to the Eugene Dupuch Law School. Cash, equivalent currencies, personal cheques and money orders will not be accepted.
- 2 References: Referees must be: A judge of the superior court, an Attorney-At-Law of at least 7 years’ experience, a Magistrate with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, a Principal of an Educational Institution or a Medical Officer who has been registered to practice for at least 7 years
Deadlines:
- Completed applications should be submitted between November 1 and January 31 each year.
- Applicants will be notified of their results and admission status in August.

6-Month Programme
The 6 Month Programme is designed as a transitional programme for persons who hold a first degree in law, and who have qualified, and already have been admitted to practice in a Common Law Jurisdiction and are seeking to practise law in any of the relevant jurisdictions covered by the Agreement Establishing the Council of Legal Education. The programme runs from September to March.
How To Apply
To be eligible for admission, applicants must be in possession of an approved qualification.
- A degree from a University or institution recognized by the Council of Legal Education as being equivalent to the degree of Bachelor of Laws of the University of the West Indies; and
- Hold either:
- a qualification which, had it been obtained prior to October 1, 1972, would have been recognized by all participating territories as a qualification to be admitted to practice as a barrister or solicitor in those territories; or
- A qualification obtained in a common law jurisdiction for admission to practice in that jurisdiction and which qualification is approved by the Council; and
- furnish a certificate of good standing from a competent authority in the jurisdiction where they have been admitted to practice.
Applicants for the 6-month programme must submit the following with their applications
- An official and complete transcript sent directly from the institution, addressed to the Registrar of the Eugene Dupuch Law School.
- Original certificate of admission to practice law sent directly from the institution, addressed to the Registrar of the Eugene Dupuch Law School.
- Original Certificate of Good Standing sent directly from the institution, addressed to the Registrar of the Eugene Dupuch Law School.

- Certified Copy of Passport.

- Applicants will be notified of their admission status in August.
