Community Legal Aid Project Launches June 25th, 2022

The Eugene Dupuch Law School is pleased to announce the launch of the Community Legal Aid Project (CLAP). CLAP is a collaboration between the Eugene Dupuch Law School Legal Aid Clinic, The Office of the Attorney-General of The Bahamas, The Bahamas Bar Association, and the Caribbean Association for Justice Solutions. The Programme’s objective is to improve the access to legal aid throughout The Bahamas and seeks to leverage technology to connect members of the public with legal counsel.

Through CLAP, teams of volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students will be deployed into communities where there is greatest need to meet with members of the public and provide free legal consultations and advice. In addition to face-to-face consultations, CLAP will also facilitate online legal consultations.

Persons wishing to volunteer, can register to do so on the AssistLegal website www.AssistLegal.net.

CLAP will host the first community legal aid clinic of its pilot on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Columbus Primary School on Wulff Road and Collins Avenu from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The public is invited to attend.
