ADVERSTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF ACCOUNTS CLERK EUGENE DUPUCH LAW SCHOOL

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Accounts Clerk at the Eugene Dupuch Law School, Nassau, The Bahamas. The Eugene Dupuch Law School is a regional institution which is administered by the Council of Legal Education (Caribbean).

The Accounts Clerk will offer accounting support to the Assistant Registrar (Finance) in relation to all matters connected to the financial and property management of the Law School and provide clerical support to the Registrar.

In this regard, the Accounts Clerk is responsible for the following:
Accounting responsibilities
• Processing of payments (cash / cheque) to the Law School
• Preparing aged receivables report for students
• Ensuring that journal entries are recorded in a timely manner
• Administering/managing Petty Cash day-to-day
• Executing cheque processing by obtaining proper authorizations and preparing payments
• Assisting with annual budget exercise
• Ordering and management of office supplies
• Maintenance of Asset Register
• Maintenance of accounting records/files for all vendors
• Maintenance of student payment records/files
• Liaises with students regarding reconciliation of payment schedules
• Liaises with vendors regarding reconciliation of invoices or items purchased but not received
• Assists with annual external audit
• Other duties as assigned

Clerical Responsibilities
• Assists with arrangements for workshops, meetings, seminars, conferences and other events put on by Law School
• Sorts and distributes incoming mail, faxes and emails and prepares outgoing mail
• Assists at any office of the Law School when required
• Inputs/checks registers in the record management system
• Ensure office equipment is properly maintained and serviced

Qualifications and Experience
• ACCA Level 1 or an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from a recognized tertiary level institution
• At least five (3 years) experience in the field of accounting
• Good oral and written communication skills

Reporting Relationships:
Receives supervision on accounting responsibilities from the Assistant Registrar, (Finance)
Receives supervision on clerical responsibilities from the Registrar

The Application
