The Environmental Law Clinic is a collaborative exercise between the Eugene Dupuch Law School, the College of The Bahamas LL.B. Programme, and Pace University Law School. The Clinic’s goal is to provide transactional and policy advice and facilitation, for the conservation and sustainable use of the natural resources of The Bahamas, the reduction of poverty and the sustainable development of The Bahamas. The Clinic will also contribute to (i) raising public awareness of the value (environmentally, socially and economically) of the natural resources of The Bahamas, (ii) the understanding and use of existing environmental laws and policies, and (iii) the development of new or updated environmental laws and policies to promote the sustainable development of The Bahamas.
In 2015, the Clinic took on its first client, Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF) to provide recommendations and policy advice for a Coral Reef Protection Act.
The Clinic hopes to continue to work with relevant government departments and agencies on this invaluable piece of legislation.
