Mr. Guy attained his LLB with Honours from the University of the West Indies and his Bar qualifications from the Hugh Wooding Law School graduating with a Legal Education Certificate. He holds a post-graduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of the West Indies. Mr. Guy was called to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Judicature of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 1990. He is also a member of the Bar of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
Mr. Guy has been trained by Grays Inn of London as a trial advocacy trainer. He also received training as an advocacy trainer from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) where he is a member, and from Stetson School of Law. Further Mr. Guy has training in Alternative Dispute Resolution to the level of Applied Advance by the Stitt Feld Handy Institute of Canada in conjunction with the University of Windsor. He has sat as a Judge in the Commonwealth Law Conference Moot Court Competition held in Hong Kong. Mr. Guy is a member of the Commonwealth Legal Educators Association and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association and is certified in Advanced Information Technology.
At the Law School Mr. Guy has responsibility for the courses of Criminal Practice and Procedure and the Law of Evidence and Forensic Medicine. He also serves in the Law School’s Legal Aid Clinic. Mr. Guy trains teams for various Regional and International competitions.
Mr. Guy has served as the Faculty Advisor to the Students’ Association of the Law School and as that body’s Returning Officer for many years.
